Onshore Cellars - ICONIC Producer

Holdvölgy is located in Mád, in the heart of the Tokaj wine region in Hungary. In 1998, Pascal Demko, a young lawyer, came to the region intending to find a few hectares of vines to offer to his father for his birthday. He fell in love with the region and in 2004 he decided to create Holdvölgy, which in English means ‘Valley of the moon’, with the aim to produce the best Tokaj.

The ultra-modern winery building was built a couple of years later by BordStudio architects of Hungary and it has recently been awarded a Bronze Medal at the international “A’ Design Awards” in Italy. These facilities combine minimalist design, complex functionality and a perfect harmony with its natural surroundings. After all this great investment, the first wines were finally available on the market in 2011.

The estate covers 25-hectares of vines and is divided into 19 plots located on seven different vineyards One of the characteristics of the estate is that their plots are very dispersed allowing them to produce wines with diverse and unique profiles. They are committed to the environment and have recently started to move towards a more ecological production system. They strive for a balance between healthy vine stocks and a good yield, paying close attention to yield control, which ensures that the minerals and other trace elements are very present in the grapes. The goal of the domaine is to produce a high-level range which illustrates all the facets of Tokaj, from dry wines vinified into single grape varieties, to great sweet wines.
