Quite deep straw. Very steady tiny bead. Complete, well balanced nose with a floral note. A tiny bit of astringency and great verve. Not quite as defiantly dry as the Blanc de Blancs. Some delicacy on the finish but it's quite powerful on the mid palate.
Tasted from magnum (the 750-milliliter bottle costs $285), the NV Brut (Gold) opens with lovely matured brioche, toast and ripe fruit flavors. Fresh, pure and elegant on the palate, with beautifully matured flavors and an elegant creaminess I don't find in the other cuvées, the "Gold" is a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier as well as the vintages of 2009, 2010 and 2012. The wine reveals good grip and mineral tension and drinks well as an aperitif or with seafood and fish.

Armand de Brignac, known as Ace of Spades, is a French Champagne owned by Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and LVMH. The brand is produced by Champagne Cattier and sold in opaque metallic bottles. The brand's first bottling, Armand de Brignac Brut Gold, is identifiable by its gold bottle with French pewter Ace of Spades labels. The Armand de Brignac champagnes are produced in a multi-vintage style, and the Brut Gold cuvée is a blend of the grape varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. Two other cuvées, a Rosé and a Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay), were released in 2008. In 2015, a Demi Sec and a Blanc de Noirs (100% Pinot Noir) also joined the range.

In 1668, Dom Pérignon is said to have discovered how to make sparkling wine; today his technique is used the world over, although Champagne continues to make some of the finest. France’s most northerly wine region, Champagne is now home to 15,000 growers and 290 ‘houses’. A blend of grape varieties is usually required: white Chardonnay to add fruit and elegance, and two reds – Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – to provide body and backbone.
