The 2019 OVID is certainly the best one yet. Perfectly ripe mulberry, bay laurel, cassis and red tobacco leaf intermingle with boysenberry, fresh plum, cerise and iodine. Beautifully balanced, this taut and powerful vintage delivers mouthwatering freshness, intensity and poise that will continue to reveal its many delightful layers for decades to come.
The nose is fruity, aromatic, beautifully elegant, concentrated, racy, complex and offers a very beautiful freshness as well as a beautiful balance. It reveals notes of wild cassis, boysenberry, wild raspberry, and small notes of juicy berries associated with small touches of caramelization, almond, liquorice, racy minerality as well as very discreet hints of mushroom, tonka bean, tea, menthol, a very discreet hint of dry local vegetation and an imperceptible hint of flowers. An amazing wine! The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a beautiful freshness, a good definition, a beautiful suavity, a good structure, a very slight finesse, power, a certain delicacy, a beautiful finesse of the grain as well as a very discreet straightness. Tannins are fine and a bit firm. Good length. Beautiful and gourmand persistence. There are hints of chocolate, hazelnut and toasted hints on the persistence
