Guidalberto is a wine produced by Tenuta San Guido, a renowned winery located in the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, Italy. The winery has a rich history dating back to the 1940s when the Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta began experimenting with Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The winery is now run by his grandson, Nicolo Incisa della Rocchetta, who continues to produce exceptional wines.

Guidalberto is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, which are carefully selected and hand-harvested. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 15 months, which gives it a complex and elegant flavour profile. Guidalberto is known for its intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and cherry, with hints of vanilla and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and rich, with a long and smooth finish.

Tenuta San Guido is also famous for producing Sassicaia, one of the most iconic wines in Italy. Sassicaia was the first Super Tuscan wine, a term used to describe wines made from non-traditional grape varieties. The wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes, which are grown on the rocky soils of the Bolgheri region. Sassicaia is aged in French oak barrels for 24 months, which gives it a complex and refined flavour profile. The wine is known for its intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and cedar, with hints of tobacco and leather. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and elegant, with a long and silky finish.

Another wine produced by Tenuta San Guido is Le Difese, a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, which gives it a rich and fruity flavour profile. Le Difese is known for its aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and plum, with hints of spice and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and smooth, with a long and fruity finish.

Overall, Tenuta San Guido is a world-renowned winery that produces exceptional wines. Guidalberto, Sassicaia, and Le Difese are just a few examples of the winery's commitment to quality and excellence. Whether you are a wine enthusiast or a casual drinker, these wines are sure to impress.

Guidalberto is a second wine from the producers of the legendary Sassicaia. Grapes are harvested and transported to an independent cellar. Fermentation takes place separately for each variety in temperature-controlled steel vats before undergoing maceration. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels and refined in bottle before release.

A full-bodied wine of intense red fruit flavour and and elegantly supple texture supported by ripe, silky tannins. The Merlot in the blend is expressed in sweet black fruit with overall aromas of ripe, concentrated berries offset by restrained spicy oak notes.

In the 1920s Marchese Mario della Rocchetta dreamt of creating a ‘thoroughbred wine’ and for him, like for the aristocracy of the time, the ideal was Bordeaux. No one had ever dared to produce a Bordeaux blend on Italian soil before, and certainly not in an unknown area as far as viticulture was concerned. The innovative decision to do so was partly due to the similarity Mario Incise noted between the soils in Bolgheri and that of Graves in Bordeaux.

“None can say with certainty why the same vine will produce a great wine in one field and a less impressive wine in another field nearby. That’s the Genius Loci, the best defender of our Cabernet Sauvignon. We are in nature’s hands and we want to stay that way.” Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta

Italy's most ancient wine region, Tuscany may not be a heavyweight in terms of quantity, but as the home of two of the country's most famous fine wines – Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino – it certainly holds its own in terms of quality. Tuscany's climate ranges from Mediterranean on the coast to continental deep in the Apennines. More than two thirds of the province is covered with hills, an important terroir factor in its fine wines.
