Calogera Prosecco is one of the most famous sparkling wine brands in Italy. They have a diverse portfolio of wines that goes from their Prosecco Extra Brut or rosé to their more classic Spumantes. Prosecco wines come from nine areas in the Veneto and Friuli regions including: Treviso, Padua, Vicenza, Venice, Belluno, Pordenone, Udine, Gorizia and Trieste.
All Prosecco wines need to have, at least, 85% of Glera in their blend. This grape variety is famous for its high acidity and its neutral palate, making it ideal for sparkling wine production. Originally, Glera was widely known as Prosecco, but in 2009 the name of the grape was changed to help further protect the Prosecco region in Italy. To complete the blend of the wine, other varieties can be added like Bianchetta, Perera and Verdiso.
